Fluffy Kinky

I’ve always been unlucky when it comes to getting my hair done well here in Eldoret. Whoever came up with the idea of crochet braiding is a Godsend. She/he has saved us(women) a lot of hassle, now I can do my hair on my own and just stop complaining everytime about my hair. Crochet braiding has so many benefits, such as the hairline is protected.

I was so determined for my first crochet braiding that I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from doing it. I couldn’t find a crochet needle, and later learnt that I can actually crochet with a bobby pin.
Here’s how I did it.
1. I braided my hair all the way to the back. I braided smaller lines at the position where I decided it’s going to be my opening/closure.

2. I then untwisted my fluffy kinky and  divided each into 5 pieces. I decided to divide it because it was too thick to either pass in between my braids or enter through the bobby pin.

3. I used two bobby pins, one big and one small. I first put the big bobby pin in between my braid. I then take the small bobby pin and pin it into a piece of the fluffy kinky I had divided.
Which I then insert into the big bobby pin(at it’s end) and pass through the piece of fluffy kinky as I pull the small bobby pin out.

After removing the small bobby pin, I pull the big bobby pin, letting the fluffy kinky pass in between the braid. Then I tie two knots.

4. One can also use one bobby pin which is much easier.  You first put in the piece of fluffy kinky at the end of the bobby pin, like how you put in a thread into a needle hole.
Then you put the bobby pin in between the braid and pull it from the opening of the to end.
You’ll then remove the pin once the fluffy kinky has passed through the braid, and tie a knot.
